Flagship NHS service
Pharmacy First
Good-quality video can support six clinical pathways where appropriate; earache stays in person. Urgent medicine supply referrals pay £15. Service conditions and payment caps apply.
New Medicine Service
Off-site delivery requires direct employment by the pharmacy owner or its group and access to necessary records. Do not assume an external remote provider qualifies; payment caps apply.
Pharmacy Contraception
Eligible routine and oral emergency contraception consultations. Conditional setup funding totals £900 in three instalments: £400, £250 and £250.
Hypertension Case-Finding
Physical measurements and ambulatory monitoring under the current service specification. Video input does not replace measurement or monitor fitting.
Discharge Medicines Service
Post-discharge medicines reconciliation and support. The patient discussion may use phone or video where appropriate; the full fee depends on completing the service stages.
Independent prescribing is planned for autumn 2026. Five additional pathway areas have been announced, but final documents and sign-up arrangements were still outstanding on 1 October 2026. What is changing.

Your Responsible Pharmacist remains on the premises throughout, running dispensing and supply as today. Remote Pharmacist adds consultation capacity; it never replaces your RP or supervises dispensing remotely.

Plan suitable private consultation services.
Agree the clinical scope and authorisation before delivery. Build a realistic consultation capacity plan using your own demand and cost assumptions.
Travel health
Consultation-led travel advice and, where appropriate, supply. Private income from the same room and terminal.
Weight management
Consultation-led support, subject to appropriate assessment, verification, prescribing safeguards and an agreed service model.
Private prescribing
An appropriately authorised prescriber working within competence, with the assessment, records and safeguards required for the proposed service.
